Programs

The heart of YSSC’s mission lies in its two-week summer sessions for children 8 to 16 years old. While most Christian camps on the west coast offer only week-long or weekend programs, our longer camp experiences provide campers greater opportunities for growing skills, character, relationships and faith. A remarkable staff of 70 college students and graduates serve approximately 125 campers during their long residence experience.

YSSC builds its schedule around a combination of small and large group activities. Waterskiing, crafts, and the ropes course are just a few of the small group cabin activities. A morning Bible study, called “Discovery Time,” is also conducted in small cabin groups to enable individualized teaching and maximum participation. Large group activities include evening programs such as guest speakers, adventure games, creative team competitions, campfires, and meal times.

A Typical Day at YSSC

While the two-week session is the core of YSSC’s ministry, we offer additional programs as well. Check out YSSC XL, our one week off-site program that lengthens a camper’s camp experience. YSSC Sidetracked offers outings during the school year to help keep campers connected to each other and our awesome YSSC staff.

In summer 2007, YSSC launched Emerald Cove Day Camp in San Juan Capistrano.  After numerous requests for a day camp program, Emerald Cove Day Camp is designed to infuse many of the cherished aspects of YSSC to create a new one-of-a-kind enrichment experience, for children 6 to 10 years old.
